opened by magnetic fields generated by the copper winding (the "coil" in the fuel injector) when current is flowing through the coil. The magnetic field generated by the coil is not really affected by whether the mechanical part (the valve in the FI) is opening or not (or is hard to open due to friction). In other words, more or less current does NOT flow through the coil just because the valve section is harder or easier to open. from an electrical point-of-view, a jammed or hard to open valve in the FI does not affect (increase) the current flow through the injectors coil. The current flow is determined by Ohms Law, where Current = voltage divided by resistance. Most of the time a fuel injector fails because the resistance of the coil increases over time. The coil increases resistance over time because the internal electrical connections inside the FI break down over time.
